Champlin's Car Barn
The barn was located across from the Block Island weather station on Ocean Ave, the title "Car Barn" comes from the fact that the barn housed the horse-drawn trolley cars that took visitors between the old new hardbors. The tracks leading into the barn were partially visible when I made the drawing some years ago. My mother rode on the trolley on a visit to Block Island in 1917. I found a hard pine board that measured 3 1/2 ft. by 14 ft., and I had it cut into three sections. Champlin's Car Barn, the Yankee, and the Liberty Bell Warehouse Building were carved on these blocks.
An edition of 50 were printed on Tableau machine-made rice paper. A special deluxe edition of 12 is currently being printed on Seichosen, a handmade Japanese paper.
