I found this boat on a trailer in an industrial boatyard in East Boston. It took many drawing sessions before I had a suitable drawing for a woodcut. I worked weekends at the dock from late Summer to mid-Fall. The owner left the boat for me until I was finished and was relieved when I completed the final drawing so he could put it into storage.
The wide board used in this print was purchased from a dealer who specialized in large boards in Groton, Massachusetts. The Life Boat has been printed on Susuki and Udashi handmade rice paper.
